If you did not attend this year’s event, then you surely missed a great golf
tournament. To recap the day’s event - We started on time but the weather didn't
co-operate. After playing for 30 minutes, Barry (the owner of the Colonial Golf
Course), blew the siren to alert of the golfers to stop and come to the club house
due to storms. After another half hour, the golfers started disappearing to the
course and the tournament continued. We kept a watch on the thunderheads
throughout the day, but the teams were of a competitive nature and the rains held
off until we finished. Everyone had a great time seeing old friends.
We were especially graced by the presence of Jeff Church. It was great of Jeff to
show up to support all of his friends. After his stroke last summer, he has been a
portrait of courage. He is in all of our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
The sooner you get better, the sooner you will be putting on the greens, which is a
shared dream for all of us.
Your participation in this event helps keep Bulldog fresh in our thoughts
(and helps keep us young as we relive those memories of the 60s, 70s,
80’s and 90’s in Huntsville, Alabama). A good time is always had by all
and it is great fun catching up with friends and remembering the good ole days at
Chapman Middle, Davis Hills Middle and Lee High School - sort of like a
reunion without having to get dressed up!
The format is a four-person scramble tournament with prizes to be awarded for
lowest score, closest to the pin and longest drive.
A special thanks to Barry and his crew at Colonial Golf Course for their hard work
in contributing to the overwhelming success every year of the tournament.
